"Pet Peeves" anyone?,.....

BrianSmith Apr 11, 2004 01:19 AM

I would really be interested in hearing what, if any pet peeves anyone has with keeping these snakes.

One of mine is that I hate when I have just finished changing the papers and cleaning the cage and a big snake defecates all over it and I have to do it again. I have a few big girls that almost always do this. You'd think I'd get used to it.

Some of you that keep a lot of big snakes must have this or similar things that you don't like.

Personally, I usually always elliminate things that I don't like. Eventually. But there is just no getting around that one up above

(side note: two very special people just made my "list of people to visit" list. Can you guess who you are?)

To be honest, I really have none. It can be work when they do thier buisiness all over again after cleaning them. I learned the thing to do is once thier enclosure is cleaned, give them a good soak in the tub with some warm water. I did this with my two tigers when I had them and they usually would finish what they started in the tub. Other than that, I have no gripes about the retics. To me, they are the king when it comes to snakes, my absolute all time favorite.

Mine peed all over me the other day. I can't really say it's a pet peeve, because it's only happened once. But It's been my only unpleasant experience to date.

My Super Dwarf/Jampea Dwarf pees and defecates whenever he gets wet outside of his cage, such as when soaking or handing out in summer and it rains. Now I know it's coming as he begins to undulate, doesn't seem to mind the rain, but like clockwork, he'll pee a bit on whomever is holding him. Otherwise, he's my favourite snake.
