Does this mean my frog is a female?

CokeOfMan Apr 11, 2004 05:17 AM

I've had my Hornedfrog for almost six months now. It was about just two inches when I got him/her. Now it's 3-4 inches. During this time it has never croaked. It has black markings under it's throat, but I've heard that these doesn't mean anything.

3-4 inches is middle ground. Some of my frogs didn't croak for quite a long while after they were "mature". Black marks do not matter really, but the beard does. During breeding season, males' throats turn dark almost like a "beard." The frog should croak at this time too. But at this stage, it is hard to say. Sometimes the frog has to be properly triggered to begin calling, so who is to say if it has or has not been triggered correctly. I would go with a nice clean answer of "I really couldn't even begin to guess." Haha...Good luck to you.

Just six months? Still just a baby. too young! Although I heard some have had a pacman that did croak that young but that's unusual.

Wait another year or two...then maybe it will croak.
