Anyone had success using moist paper towels as a substrate for laying boxes?
From what I've been told, I wouldn't recommend it. The eggs could stick to the paper towels, AND the female leo won't have anything to dig in (natural instincts).
Stick with Perlite (or there's another product, but I can't remember the name of it). It's too big for them to ingest, and it gives them something to lay in. Also, you can pick it up for relatively cheap at a plant nursery.

i use bed-a-beast for my laying box and its really cheap.
I put the eggs in the incubator with perlite, and use bed-a-beast/spaghnum moss for them to lay in. The moss keeps the humidity up and the beadabeast is fun for them to lay in. paper towels would be fine for babies, but since you said laying, I wouldn't recomend it.
Thanks for the quick responses. That's sorta what I figured. Bummer. I currently am using peat moss and was only considering paper towels because I am fearful at times in searching through the peat moss. I worry that I will accidently turn the eggs or something while I am rumaging through the moss.
