Jennaleigh Jun 13, 2003 06:02 PM

what is a tremper albino? Whats the difference? And my other question is why do some albinos have pink/red eyes and then others sometimes have normal dark looking eyes? just curious. Thanks

a Tremper albino is an albino strain, i believe it was the first to appear. the difference in strains, i cannot tell you what it is genetically, but they cannot interbreed to make albinos, and all three look a bit diff. the other two strains are Rainwater/Las Vegas, and Bell. in my opinion the Bells are the most unique looking, though, i am still a fan of the Trempers.

Ron Tremper was the first to create a line of albinos, therefore he's been doing it the longest. The differnce is mostly that Las Vegas and bell have just come from differnt jean pools. About the eyes: Albinism is a lack of black pigment. thats why the eyes are red, there is no black to make them dark. so if you see one with normal eyes, its probably not an albino. If you go to leopardgecko.com, Ron Tremper has a page on the different eye colors of albinos. that might help more since I don't know that much about albinos myself.
