Aquatic Plants/Dwarf Turtles

turtlesami Apr 11, 2004 12:59 PM

What kind of aquatic plants are good for the turtles, and what are not? And is it normal for the turtle to try and eat the fake plants?

Is the "dwarf" thing true? I have heard that there are such things as dwarf turtles, but I was not sure if that was correct. Because my 3 other turtles, besides cosmo.. are all about the same length, about 1-1 1/2 inches long (shell). They have been like that for about 2-2 1/2 years now. i was just wondering.

No it is not true. There is no such thing as a dwarf slider. The smaller if it is not ill will eventually put on a growth spurt.

It is normal for them to pick at the fake plants until they get the idea that they cannot actually break anything off to eat.

Um, they aren't sliders.. is there any other kind of dwarf turtle?

Nope. No such think as dwarf turtles. There is a dwarf cherryhead (redfoot tortoise) but it is not really a dwarf it a normal redfoot tortoise. It is just a smaller subspecies that is called dwarf because it does not get as large as a regular redfoot. But that is about as close to dwarf as you will get will turtles and torts.

What kind of turtles are they?
What's their setup like?

There's no such thing as dwarf turtles, period. No turtle should be that small at that age.
