Mealie's are escaping from the food bowl.

Does anyone else have this problem? I'm new to feeding w mealies since I've had my leo on cricks for the past 1.5 years that I've had him. They are getting all over the terrerium and I'm tired of catching all of the escapee's. Should I get a deeper dish or is there something else I can do?

I had the same problem when I used one with 'stairs' and another that was plastic, but had rough sides. If you can feel a texture on the sides, then the mealies can probably climb it. I finally went and spent all of $2.00 for a simple glazed ceramic bowl at (gasp) Petco. It solved the escapee problem perfectly and takes up less space, and the sides are a little shorter too. Remember - smooth sides = no climbing mealies. RR

This is what I did. Wal-mart has little clay saucers in the gardning dept(something like $0.10 each. Then in the craft dept. they have non-toxic glazing(I think about $5.00, but will last for well over 100 saucers.) I use at least 2 coats 3 if needed to make the inside nice and smooth. I use them for both food and water, but I would recomend letting it dry for several day to a week to make sure it becomes water proof. Good Luck and don't give up on those meal worms.
