The reptile stuff is taking over the house!!!!!!!

lucille Apr 11, 2004 05:44 PM

I just turned the hall closet into a cricketarium (two large clear acrylic containers, one in use and one, clean, waiting to take over when the next shipment of crickets comes in and this one needs to be scrubbed out) and will also be housing the mealworms there. Already there is one full shelf in the pantry dedicated to storing clean pet dishes. How about y'all, are your pet accessories taking over?

A couple years ago I took my family to the Zoo. We decided to go to their reptile area. I was a little disappointed to find out I actaully housed more snakes in my bedroom than we had at the entire zoo. My bedroom was just an overflow I had an entire room dedicated to keeping snakes. Not to mention we had other reptiles tucked here and there throughout the house. You migh notice my user name. R U Jonesin? this is an addictive hobby and to think my wife hated snakes and she had more in her bedroom than our city zoo. That didn't go over well!

I definitely have a pet jones, I have a whole zoo here but that is OK because they are all happy and spoiled.
But I keep no pets in my bedroom.

My guest room is a home for 5 beardies and a Veiled Cham. My other spare room used to have my daughters big red tail boa in it (and a bed for guests). I had an Aunt stay all night in there, we covered the snake tank with a sheet and didn't tell her what was under it until the next day.
LOL!! She wouldn't even go back in to get her suitcase.

I also have two beardies in my dining room where the hutch used to be.
A big fat dog that insists on laying in the entrance to the hallway and a cat that pukes on my sons bed every other day.
Cats should do laundry!!

I finally crossed a threshold this spring, when my end tables went out the door to be replaced by two dog crates - attractively covered, but still dog crates. They make much better end tables anyhow My ig cage is the largest piece of furniture in the house, and I have more pet food/water dishes, bowls, cages, pails etc than people dining place settings LOL Pet food (veggies, greens, chicken for the dogs etc) takes up as much room in my fridge as people food, and unlabelled containers may contain either - friends do not investigate leftovers in my house, at least not without asking first if it holds people food, or something "disgusting". My guest room is strictly off limits to the pet population, I'm trying to hold out on that one although I think its where the puppies will be going when they arrive... you have only just begun!!!

I turned an entire room into a roach motel! It took me a week to clean all the bins.

Here's a pic of my living room when we were just starting out with our BDs.

My reptiles have taken over my room throughout the years. The only personal belongings in my room is my bed and bookshelf.. and there are cages under the bed and on top of the bookshelf. My closet also has my clothes... and rubbermaids containing supplies including lots and lots of light bulbs I got rid of my table and instead got a vision cage and then stacked another cage on top of that. Wasn't my mom shocked when she walked into her room and my table was there People who have never seen my room before are ..pleasantly.. surprised. Haha actually they think I'm a freak and give me strange looks during school. Aren't herps great?
