I just wanted to say thanks about the posts for "pine?" I wanted to reply but couldn't get logged in till now. I didn't want to start an argument just a debate. I spent alot on this cage and am going to continue to use it because of the 4 coats of polyurethane enamel. I will, however, watch closely for any signs of toxic exposure. She has a vet appt. on Mon. and I'll see what he says. I may have to postpone the appt. because she still hasn't passed the rabbit for a stool sample. Anyway I just wanted to say thanks for the posts.

carefull with vets..not many really know a whole lot about anacondas...make sure you are going to someone that really knows their stuff...and fecal floats are not always the most acurate tests (not just my opinoin..words from one more qualified vet over one i was displeased with).

He says he specializes in reptiles and small animals. I guess I'll have to start somewhere since I'm still relatively new to the area. He has been recomended by another snake breeder in the area who has used him for years.
If not fecal floats then what?
Sincerely,
The man with a baggie patiently waiting by conda tail for sample.

i am not a vet but what i was told is that fecal floats can often miss a lot of parasites and eggs especially with anacondas who have had movements floating in the water dish with other stuff for a while before they get to the vets office. i would ask the vet about other tests they can do. also..in no way do i think the other vet i have gone to is the greatest anaconda vet in the world so please dont think i am saying anything is wrong with a vet that you are happy with..i have yet to find someone that i trust 100%. good luck

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. I'll probably just print out your response and bring it with me to the vet.
