Unknown gecko

I was recently given a small gecko that has a series of brown v-shaped bands running down its back. The whole body seems covered in a swire of sandy grey and brown. Scales are grandular. Body length is about 4.8 inches (snout to tail-tip). The gecko DOES NOT have moveable eyelids, and although it has toe pads, it can't climb glass very well. Tail somewhat prehensile. Movement is slow and more like that of a panther gecko than, say, a house gecko. Overall the animal is like a dark colored banded panther gecko. It was sold as an AFRICAN CLAWED GECKO, and the people at the shop think it might be a FAT-TAIL, which it is certainly not. The person who gave it to me really thinks its a VELVET GECKO, but the snout looks too round.

Any ideas?

It could be an African Velvet gecko, one of the Homopholis family. It may be Homopholis faciata by the sound of it, here is a link to pictures.
