pre-egg laying question

football9755 Apr 11, 2004 08:34 PM

I was wondering what everyone uses for substrate in their "laying box"? It would help me a bunch.

Thanks
Chuck

Hello,
I use the same stuff the eggs incubate in. Which is moistened vermiculite. I haven't had any problems with it, but they do make a mess if they go in and out of the nest box a lot. As some of mine do. Good luck!

As the last poster stated I too use the same substrate as what I incubate the eggs in. I use moistened vermiculite with a small portion of pearlite mixed in. If you put the box in pre-shed it can also help with humidity for getting the shedding done.
