I'm glad you asked that question. One of my girls has refused to eat crickets for the last 6 weeks. She loves the worms though. I've never feed one with just worms so I need to research how to do it properly. Lets see who answers.
Take care,
Karen

I've never had a beardie stop eating and go to just wax worms. I regard them as a treat and part of the variety in their diets. I did have a gecko that went of crickets and on to wax worms. I found that if she ate too many of them she would vomit all of them up. Ive had beardies eat plenty of them with no problems though. Did you try pinching the legs off a cricket and try feeding the beardie with tweezers? That might help. I would suggest experimenting with how many wax worms you feed him. Just dust them with plenty of calcium and vitamins. I hope this helps.

both are much more nutritious, silks can be fed as a main protein source and butters are super high in calcium, my guys love them, carrick grew up on them =)

Hey Reiko, what are butter worms exactly? Are they the same as super worms or are they different? Where might I find these? I logged on to Timberline and saw an ad for them but no where to order them. Thanks for the info., Teresa.

at herpfood.com they are closely related to the Trevo worm, some say they are a trevo worm but from what i have found out they are not,i could be wrong, in the same family perhaps? all i know is that they are a really great alternative to waxies as a treat, i feed them more often and in larger quantities then you would a treat as they are the feeder that contains the highest calcium. They are a softbodied pinkish orange worm that smells like buttered popcorn, no joke, if i were in out in the wild with no food, these guys would be easy to snack on =P Silks on the other hand make an excellent main protein source as they are soft bodied and high in calcium also and low in fat, with both worms the downside is the cost, but i wouldnt have my dragons do without them =)

that you would eat the butters if you were out in the wild, how about the silkies?? LOL. I know I would not eat supers no matter what.

GARBAGE!!!! Ive had supers before and man are they nasty. they do have a kinda almondy taste though. I had them on a stir fry. We had crickets too and those are even worse. When I used to work at a pet store I got kids to eat wax worms for $1.00, after the first time they would ask for them every time they came in. They said they tasted like candy, maybe thats why berdies like them so much. They might like the sweeter taste. Who knows. My advice, dont try supers or crickets!

My latested experienc with herpfood.com is not good. I had ordered 2 - 100 count boxes of silkies and only received one. I emailed them several times (never had a problem getting my emails when I was ordering)about the missing box, but they have refused to acknowledge my emails, return them, or attempt to correct their mistake. I will give it one more attempt and then take it to the BOI. Not sure what else I can do. I paid a lot of money for those two boxes (and have ordered from them several times)and I think I am entitled to my second box.
Take care.
