Sick Snake- need help ASAP!

TAloha19 Apr 12, 2004 02:04 AM

It isn't a BP, but this forum gets a lot more traffic and I was hoping someone can help.
My father in law has a 5month old albino burmese. It's belly scales are shedding all over?! They're very thin small pieces that are shiny and they are all over the cage and even when you hold him, they get all over you. The rest of it's skin is fine.
It's in a screen top aquarium with paper towel for substrate. Is this due to lack of humidity? Please help!

Im not even close to an expert but check for signs of scale rot..such as discoloration of the ventral scale area. If no signs of infection than most likely it has a mild to intermediate burn. If he has a hot rock than remove it and check temps if have UTH. My Cal king had the same thing happen and was slightly burned by sneaking under his carpet layers and laying directly on the UTH. Like I said no expert if better qualified people reply I would listen to them.

...excess belly heat could manifest in this way, with further damage characterised by blister disease. Follow earthpig's directions...
