Question Does the cage have to be somewhat dark for the anacanda

laevans76 Apr 12, 2004 11:33 AM

does it matter on what type of lights two use...what i mean is color wise...right now i have one of the uva light on one end of the cage and on the other end over her water i have a red light..which is not as bright as the uva light...should i used all red lights or maybe a blue to keep it some what dark in the cage..that way she would not stress...

There is not realy any differance between anacondas and othere boides when it comes to cageing. The only thing that I differ is large water pans and high humidity. I put lights in every cage timed on a 12/12 light cycle.

You must provide a clearly defined daily photoperiod, preferably of white light, either with room or cage lighting. Without a clear day and night cycle, you will virtually assure a stressful environment.
