She still hasnt had them.....how long is too long?

windyj420 Apr 12, 2004 01:24 PM

I am still patiently waiting for my babies. She started spending alot of time in her lay box last week, but was still eating some. As of Saturday she went off food totally and doesnt hardly come out at all unless I check for eggs. She has started digging a lot, but nothing. My male spends a lot of time in there too, could he be bothering her? She is getting so big and I can see the eggs, I am getting worried. Any advise would help ease my mind.

First off, is she the right weight/age/size to breed? 2nd, she'll lay them when shes ready too. If you want to feel like you are helping, you can give her warm water soaks, which loosens up the muscles. I'm not an expert or anything, but thats what I've been told.

take him out, give her her privacy. And make sure that her nest bedding is moist, as most of my females will not lay if it has dried out.

Some leos will lay immediately once they start digging, altho there are those who can take up to a week or more once they've started. I guess its a motherly thing to have the nest look perfect, lol.

Also, I have tried the warm water soaks, and belly rubs...it works!

Good luck, and keep us updated!

I will try the soak thing, you never know. I dont know anything about how old they are. They were together when I got them and she was already pregnant. They are both healthy as far as I know. Thanks for the quick replies.
