Waterman Canyon report...

jeph Apr 12, 2004 01:53 PM

Hi,
Well Waterman Canyon is a place i drive through everyday-(I go back and forth from San bernardino and Lake Arrowhead everyday) it is where the "old fire" started last oct., well after the rain from winter there is much new growth all through the creek-(before the fire there would of been no way you could of walked through where we were, it was already hard to get through the new growth, plus so much poison oak) but we did see some stuff, I'll post some pics under this post. I'm just glad to see that wildlife seems to be thriving still.

Hi,
Heres a pair of Ca. tree frogs we saw hanging out on the side wall of a big rock, they were about 2 feet above the water. This was the best pic i could get of them, as they were very similar in color to the rock, so they kept getting washed out in every pic.

Hi,
All around the big rocks there is nice pieces of granite that has flaked off due to the fire, making perfect little rocks for things to hide under. Thats where this little guy was-(the rock he is sitting on is the one he was under, they are about 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch thick, just nice thin little rock pieces)he let me get my pics then went between 2 big rocks.

Hi,
This guy was pretty long-(his tail was cut off in this pic) but he was a fiesty little guy, never tried to get away, but instead just stayed there hissing at me like he wanted some. I wanted some pics with his mouth open, but they were not clear at all. I really liked the colors on him, nice clean white scatterd through the pattern.
