Hey Russ L......couldn't reply to your e-mail....more

Of course your response is the same as your e-mail regarding Provent a mite. Legal issues aside, you stated provent a mite is safer and better. You state in your reply you had negative results, but gave NO specifics. Rather, you refer me to contact Bob Pound. You made the claim, you had negative results...YOU fill me in. We all know Bob is fully capable of stiring up crap on his own. So, what was your negative experience with Black DEATH as you call it, and why were you even using it to begin with since as you stated yourself, it's illegal to be sold for a purpose other than what it is labeled for. So, plain and simple...you made the statement, YOU provide the proof. Or otherwise, just say it's a preference plain and simple. I indicated what my negative results were with provent a mite. Take care.

Paul,

Here are answers to all of your questions:

1). Why was I using "Black Death"? Well I was using it because it was being sold as a remedy to mite problems. It was being endorsed by several large well known breeders so I thought I would give it a try. That is why plain a simple!

2). Why was I using it for a purpose other then it's "prescribed" use? Well again I thought it would work...It in fact did not (well it worked but it killed everything)! Also at the time I DID NOT know it was illegal to use for the purpose of killing snake mites. Mr. Pound informed me of that as well as some other issues that he had with that product! All made perfectly good sense.

3). My negative result was that it (Black Knight) killed 2 Bolivian Boas and one adult male ghost ball python. I used it as many people have, I took the water dish out and sprayed the enclosure (with the snakes in them)....The next day I came in to find limp snakes..Upon necropsy's the vet found blood clots on the longs of the animals.

That is my experience, I hope this satisfied your thirst for answers. Should you have any others please feel free to ask as I would be more then willing to answer them for you!

Wasn't so hard was it? You have to realize, I could care less what Bob Pound has to say about other mite products because he is IN THE BUSINESS SELLING MITE SPRAY FOR PROFIT!!! That in itself makes his opinion just a tad bias, wouldn't you agree? Nothing against Bob, but common sense should tell you he's going to argue his product superior to any other on the market. And if FDA regulations is one way he can argue the potentcy of a product, I'm sure he's going to do it. That fact in itself though does not relegate how affective the product may or may not be. So, you had 3 animals with, sounds like, severe mite problems. What percentage of animals sprayed did these three make up? With any chemical, overdose is going to be lethal, so simply removing the water bowl doesn't insure anything. If I sit there with provent a mite or Black Knight and empty half a can into a 28qt. rubbermaid, then place the animal back in the enclosure, I'm going to have problems...plain AND simple! Thanks again for sharing YOUR actual experience as people are clearly using the product, any info they can find will be helpful....good and bad alike!!! Take care!
