Eye Closed!! Help!

beardiekid14 Apr 12, 2004 04:19 PM

My male albino has closed it eyes and they have sort of puffed up. It is housed by itself in a boaphile rack, and is fed mealworms. Any suggestions on how to help it it wont eat much?

Thanks,
Adam Hallquist

Hi

Can you describe what the eye looks like more?. Like, did you notice anything different about the eye before your gecko closed it and kept it closed?.

Just from the little you have said, it sounds like an eye infection, and you said it has swollen, and in my opinion that say's that the infection may have progressed quite a way's. I would take it to a vet. to have the eye looked at. If it is that then you don't want to take a chance on letting it go any longer, because he could go blind.

Others on here will weigh in on this and also help.

Hi,
My leo also had a swollen/shut eye problem as well, and she got a trip to teh vet. He figured it was from shedding & the skin from her eye lid ended up being pulled too quickly & made a tear in her eyelid, so he had to use saline solution to get it open & did a dye test to make sure that the cornea wasnt damaged...
then i had to put eye drops on it etc..
his advice to me: any eye problems, ALWAYS TAKE IT TO A VET!!! because very quickly things can get worse and you dont want your leo to have to lose its eyesight.
my 2 cents
