Just finished my latest creation!

hill4803 Apr 12, 2004 04:38 PM

I built this last week. It houses 15 female leos (3 in each unit). I still need to get the decorations fixed up, will be doing that this weekend. I use 10 watt halogen lights in each unit, it puts out a good amount of heat...ended up getting a really good temperature gradient without additional heating! The glass was the most expensive part of the cage (had to go to a glass shop to get it!) The total cost for my little project = $207!!!

How do you provide belly heat? Also what do the temps drop to at night after you turn off the lights?

I don't use any other heat source. My herp room stays about 74 - 76 degrees (f). I just used my temp gun on the lowest cage in the "cold" spot = 77f . At night the temp might get to the low 70's. This cage would work for beardies as well, with a little modification...more height and probably more length! It is also sealed all the way around inside each unit with silicon. I will be building a "bachelor" setup, similar to this for my males, but I will put in a 1"x1" piece in the front for a litter dam! These guys love to kick the sand around! This cage was easy as all get out to build! (Coming from a female who took wood shop in the 8th grade many moons ago!)

That is really nice. I just finished a modular enclosure for my leopard geckos. It has three enclosures in one unit. Dimensions of each enclosure is 36Lx18Wx12H. I have plexiglass on the front with hinges at the bottom so it opens like a platform. Makes feeding easier. I wired red lights on one side and it has flexwatt wired up to a thermostat for heat. I don't use sand at all. I have two pieces of slate tile in each enclosure and the rest is covered with river rock. At one end is paper towel for them to do their business. Mine is not nearly as pretty as yours, but it is functional.

Regards,

Terry
