Stop trashing my plants! (Fertilizers? Hardy sp.?)

draggintails Apr 12, 2004 06:37 PM

My Aussies love sitting in the golden pothos in their viv and this is the third time I've replaced it this year. The plants seem to thin or burn out from all the activity.

My questions are...
Are there any SAFE fertilizers to use on plants, maybe a certain type of organic something? or is constantly repotting or changing out the only option?

Are their any other viv safe plants that can stand up to activity and laying on them, high heat and UV from lights, med to high humidity? Everything else I've tried from spider plants to "Song of India" has burned up. I'm reluctant to go out and spend more cash without some input.

I'd also like some "vine" type plants with the same requirements to replace the fake stuff. As far as I know, most real "ivy" is poisonous.

Thanks!
Nomi

I am not a fertilizer expert. But if you made your own compost and heated it up to an internal temp of 150 degrees it will kill all the bacteria and THEORETICALLY be safe to use.
