My oldest iguana, andy, came here named andy. When I adopted him he did not have a name and on the way home he bit me and caused all kinds of havoc coming home. He reminded me of a close friend of mine named Anthony whose nicname is Andy. So the name stuck and he has been the best named creature ive ever had. lol.
The baby came to me named "Spike". I didnt care for the name so he was called Cricket for a bit because he was fast and hyper. lol. then one day we were going to my grandmothers and I said, "What doin vern?" and that one stuck. lol. The "vern" has evolved into "vernie".

My first Iguana was dubbed Thelma...She had been a rescue at the pet store that I managed and I used her in educational presentations in the schools. On the way to one such presentation it occurred to me that she didn't have a name. Thelma was the first thing that came to mind and it stuck. Po, short for Potentia, came along shortly after, followed close behind by Wyatt, Foster, and Zigmeister. Since then we've had OliveOil, Sharkey, TJ, Lurch, Mohammad, Sophie, Abbie, Kermit, Big girl, Ormond, Hercules, Lily, Twitch, Charlie, JR, Montezuma, Wizard, Crusty, Kira, Crawford, Hannibal, Miggs, Anna, etc. I'm stuck right now trying to come up with a name for my little Rhinoceros iguana. My other 3 are Bubbles, Scrub, and Loofah. I want to keep the theme going.
I have adopted three igs from Jiffypop. That would be Anna, which the name was kept, Montezuma, which since we think she is a girl went to montimae, and now we just call her monster, she is sooooo opposite of her name, the biggest sweetheart, except when you are trying to eat, then she becomes my competition for my meal.
The main reason why I decided to post is because what Jiffypop FAILED to mention is that Miggs (the name), is from the movie "Silence of the Lambs". He is that scummy guy in the first cell that Clarice has to go past to get to Hannibal. Now if anyone knows that movie knows what he did. YUCK!! We did keep the Miggs name, one because I like the movie anyway, and two because he is so GREAT at painting his cage that the name fits. LOL
I looked at Tempest for probably 3 days, completely stuck with what to call him. He was just "the rescue ig", till the name Tempest just hit me as the perfect fit
When we first got him from my niece he was named spike. I got him for my son and let him rename him, he picked Ozzy. Well now Ozzy is really my iguana, since i take care of him lol. I would prefer something more origional, but Ozzy stuck so thats what it is. Allthough for awhile i thougth we might have to change his name to Sharon. Wasnt sure if he was a boy/girl for quite sometime, but now im pretty sure he is a boy. Will have to figure out how to post a pick and see what you guys think. Anyways Ozzy was the final choice. Tami
When I rescued Green Guy, his name was Harley. I didn't care for that because he had been in such a neglectful home. I couldn't think of a name for him at all. For all my pets, they usually live with me for a few days and then their name will come to me. Not so with Green Guy. He was so little and bright green like a jewel, and I just kept calling him "my little green guy" because I couldn't think of a name. That name stuck and there it is: Green Guy. He is also called Green Baby and Babydoll. He responds to all his names.
Hugs,
Amy and Green Guy
PS: I am lucky he turned out to be a male because otherwise I'd have had to think of another name! Green Gal?
First I have Ed which is most likely a girl. She is only almost 1 year old. So now I call her Ella. I still actually call her Ed(It just fits).
Then there is Sam my 2 year old girl iggy. At first we called her Sampson because we thought it was a male and we wanted a strong name. We are keeping the Sam though because it works for a female as well. That gives us Sam-N-Ella.
Now we have chaos because we have CHAOS our new cuban rock iguana. It took me a while to find a name that fit him. Rocky was a good one.I wanted to call him Godzilla or Gator or even BillyBobBojangles if nothing else worked. Chaos fits him well because he is always getting into chaos.
