Boa's an Humidity!

Hello all!I just begun my journey into the Boa world sbout 9 months ago!An I know its very important to have the propper humidity in ones boa enviroment as it is to have propper heat!So hears my problem!I use aquariums as homes for my boa's!Size all depends on the size of the boa in the tank!One side has the under the tank heating pad,the opposite side has the heat lamp,With the propper temp/humidity guages in also!The tops are screen,So I covered half of the top with poster board that I wrapped with seran wrap an then sealed to the lid,to trap heat/humidity!Summer time was ok I didn't have much of a problem with humidity!Winter came here in Ky an I heat with gas!An bammo problem,big problem,So I got me a spray bottle an,every two hours,I misted them down with pure hot water out of the bottle,which to my amazment wasnt hot but cold!Well this solved the problem!Or it did till two weeks ago!I now have 3 2004 100% het for kahl albino's an well I was doing the same to them as far as the misting went!An today I noticed that one of the males is blowing bubbles!Dang respitory infection!He was taken to the vet for the problem!An I purchased a humidifyer for the room but 40% humidity isn't good enough!Can anyone please help me!I got too much money tied up in my 13 boa's to loose them over ignorance!If anyone can help I can be e-mailed at hypoboa1@msn.com!Thanks,Charles!

My first answer would be getting a swamp cooler, if that is not an option and you are using air conditioning in your snake room, then my suggestion is to block off as much of that as possible, due to the fact that A/C takes the moisture out of the air. Second I would add a box of Cypress Mulch to each Boas cage. This will just about double the cages humidity by itself. Just make sure your cage has proper ventilation so the air does not become stagnant. That can also cause problems. Then you might want to check into a larger humidifier if your problem is still not solved. Check out the Bionaire W-6 or W-7, they are good products and you can get them on EBay for about $150.00 or so. It is a good investment.
