lost scale

I have a 17" argentina b&w tegus and he has lost the scale on the end of his nose.It dose not seem to pain him but its red and I dont want it to get bad. has anyone had this happin. I think he rubed it because he was fine and then it was gone what I feed him this morning. thank you for all help kate

I would suggest putting a little spot of neosporin if it is red. Red is usually not good.. It is safe and helps prevent infection, just don't get it in his nostrile. Not much else you can really do. But I'm no vet, so I hope someone else chimes in.
