Need help with ID...

Hi all,

I found this guy munching on a toad outside my porch last summer and didn't think much of it at the time, but now that I'm considering keeping a garter snake, I'm wondering what subspecies or morph he was. Anyone have any ideas? I live in northeastern OH.
