Big Apple Herp

What type to get? Depends on how you're using it. We need more info from you.

The Bean Farm is cheaper than Big Apple Herp for heat tape. Depending on the size of your enclosures, you should go with either 4" or 11".

...3"/6 watts/ft in most of my new racks; I have 3"/10 watts/ft in my 2 oldest racks...

...the 6 watt material is much safer in case of dimmer failure; it maxes out at 110-112F if the dimmer fails...the 10 watt material can reach in excess of 140F.

The 4" material is either 7.5 or 8 watts/ft (don't know why they manufacture the 2 wattages so close together), and this material can also get pretty hot when undimmed.

The 11" material (20 watts/ft) can be useful for some racks when applied to the BACK WALL, but the unit needs to be built correctly with the proper material and/or kept in a relatively warm room, or this material will only raise the temp about 15F over ambient.

As far as source, you may want to check out the classifieds under Heating/Lighting/Cages...there's some good sources.
