Meric ( currently sick =( ) and his Cage!

sucoyant Apr 12, 2004 10:42 PM

Here is Meric and his cage.
Meric is a 2 year old Veiled Chameleon. Sweet little guy. Hates cameras though! Talk about picture shy... whenever I break out the camera (Or any camera!) he puffs up and tries to tell me that he doesn't want his picture taken. Sorry Meric!

Anyway, here he is with his cage.
Currently Meric probably has Edema =( The vets and I are in the process of trying to figure out exactly whats wrong with him.
As you can tell, his casque his quite inflamed as well as his eyes.
If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to comment!

i wouldnt profess to have any idea what is the problem

but a question:

is it just me or is most of the upper portion of the enclosure plastic and not screen?

sucoyant Apr 12, 2004 11:12 PM

Sorry... I sould have explaind that. =P

His entire cage is screen. The plastic you see is thumb-tacked to the wall.

The lady would have my head if the water ruined the Faux finish on the walls. lol

I don't recal from earlier posts (I think it was you who posted about this earleir -but maybe not. Anyway, that would be my first suggestion. I have no idea what it is but if Luna's looked like that she'd be at the vet pronto!

From doing a few searches MBD seems to be a possible culprit. It seems to affect the casque later than other parts but who knows. His ankles look a little puffy in the photos but that may be just the angle.

here are a few articles to check out but I would get him to a vet for proper diagnosis and treatment. If it is MBD and not too far along it may possibly be corrected. You mention you've had him for a couple years - any chancge in his diet, supplements, etc?
