Please help- troublesome feeder etb baby

Ralph Apr 13, 2004 12:13 AM

Hello,

I have a male etb (still red) who has not taken a meal from me at all. According to his feeding chart from the breeder it has been two months since his last meal and he just shed two weeks ago. How can I entice him to eat. He gets real shy when he sees the fuzzies and hides his head. Does buying one of those lizzrd scenting liquids work? What has worked for you?

Without any further info regarding environment, you will have very little success with fuzzies. You need to offer hopper mice. Container and perch size also play a roll, proper humidity and temps as well. From birth, our neos won't touch pinks or fuzzies, not enough movement.

Thanks for your replies,

I bought a more active hopper than usual yesterday and dropped it in overnight. It looks like he took it so I'm pretty happy. I was getting a little worried. But thanks again for your input.

does the snake assume its attack position at night when the lights are out? it should be in its hunting mode at night (lights out in the room!!) I had trouble with mine at first and now I cant even open the cage at night w/o initiating a feeding response(mine would eat F/T pinks now eith my fingers attached)...I did what Craig recommended...using the SMALLEST hopper I could find (you dont want a regurg)...and left it alive in a cup suspended 5 inches below the branch....cup has to be big enough so the mouse cant get out....once your snake relaxes he will do what all good etbs do...
