ATB Mouth question/problem

psychoninja Apr 13, 2004 12:54 AM

ok i just noticed this and im not sure if its normal or if i have a problem. I jsut fed my ATB and while he was crusing around his tank i noticed it looked like the skin was flipped inside out all along the bottom jaw. A little later he yawned/realinged his jaw and it looked better so i figured that was the problem but i jsut went back and it looked the same. So my theories are either his jaw is still missaligned or i also noticed that it seems to be only when he is flicking his tounge so it might jsut be that he has to open his mouth that far to taste the air. What do you all think? I wish i could get some pics of it but no digital camera.

How large of a meal did it take? Im trying to picture what you are describing. I've had ATBs have trouble closing their mouth when a tooth has come loose. What kind of material are you using for the flooring? Perhaps some substrate is lodged in its mouth.

prey was if anything a little on the small side, and i use paper towl for substrate. He looks better today, but the loose tooth thing makes sence he struck at me while i was opening the tank and hit the screen really hard. Anything i can do to aid in the healing if it was his tooth?

If you can see the tooth hanging out of the mouth you can try to remove it with tweezers. If not just wait until the next feeding and it will probably correct itself. Goodluck....
