Breeding Opinion on Potential Matchup Wanted

johnmartino Apr 13, 2004 05:31 AM

This girl should be ready to go this coming year. If you could breed her to anything you wanted, normal, any morph, etc., what would you guys breed her to?

Linda, you can always send Fluffy here on a breeding loan. I will be more than happy to send you pics of her and Fluffy curled up together. LOL. Thanks to all that replied, please keep them coming, they are all appreciated.

for me it would probably be between a Sharp Sunglow - this way you get outrageous hets and DH's too... then outrageous Sharps and Sunglows

a 'superpastel' or pastel hypo would hopefully give you outrageous babies and some fantastic hypos too. Imagine a pastel that looked like a true ghost?

I also had/have a few somewhat like this that are special, but mostly because they do have pattern aberrancies I would probably choose a pastel hypo or an albino.

In my opinion, to breed it to a color morph would only diminish the traits this animal passes on.. and to breed it to a pattern morph would be a waste.. just my opinion..

Sure you might make a lighter motley and make a few more grand, but I believe the impact from making more and better 'common' colombians like this would be much greater and more meaningful. - then again, that's just me...

She is very nice.... I personally would try to find another male that looks similar to her.... Just my opinion

That is DaveyFigs male that seems to produce genetic pastels.. And as nice as your female is she would definetely help produce some extremely nice ones..

I agree with Joe that you should use her to make more extremely clean/nice "normals" a color morph won't do much and if you do go with a pattern morph I would use an arabesque..

Good luck with what you choose.

she already has low black around the tail saddles, breeding with
a nice salmon could produce some killer tails...
and breeding with an anery becuase I love anerys (still don't
have one yet! lol) and her coloration and contrast could make
some really nice constrasting silver and black babies!
Lovely girl!!

Either would be fantastic babies.
The hypos would be very washed out and have wonderful tones. (Depending on the hypo of course)
An anery for the same reason. To me, the best looking anerys are the pastelish ones. Like Ronne's Ivorys. There isn't much black in the tail on yours. That is a big deal when I think of the babies that could be produced.

Best of both worlds.............Get a Ghost!!
