Black fungus disease?

flir Apr 13, 2004 02:58 PM

Hi all!

About a month ago my iguana got what I thought was 2 bruises, one on each leg (calf?).
Eventually one of these “bruises” got a bit swollen, and the swollen part has now turned crusty and it looks like it´s about to come off. Beneath the crusty part as far as I can see there is no new scale, it looks more like (human)skin.
I´m taking him to the vet this friday but I wanted to see if anyone had an idea what it could be?
The other “bruise” has more or less disappeard.
He doesn´t seem to have any pain and he is not different in any way appart from eating less then usual, but that is because he is turning red =)
Look at the URL for more picture of the “bruise”.

Hey. I saw your pics in the photo gallery too. With your description of what happened to me sounds like a bad burn. But you never know. Let us all know what the vet has to say.

The vet thought that it look like a burn. But I tolk her that is was near impossible
for him to get near a heat source, but you never know with iguanas(he is a freeroamer after all).
So we are going to treat it like a burn.
