WHAT'S IN YOUR UROMASTYX SALAD???

cv768 Apr 13, 2004 03:22 PM

I'm looking for suggestions and comments on what people feed their uros.

Currently, our Malis eat a diet of snow peas, shredded carrots, bok choy, and a variety of shredded squash. This mix is also supplemented with reptivite.

Anything I should add? take away?

What do you feed your uros?

My Uro is still a tiny one so he gets by on just a few good chomps on some Mustard or Turnip greens and Kale. He loves a dandelion about every other day. He also gets one or two very small crickets on a weekly basis, but I'm fading those out!! All are supplimented with a Calcium supp. Even the crickets!

I'll be interested in hearing what others are feeding theirs!

Well, I personally feel that variety is the best key to good health just as it would be for us. So I use various things for my uros:
snap peas
endive
escarole
bok choy
collard (sparingly)
grated carrots
peas (on occasions)
lima beans
green beans
squash
sweet potato
kale (sparingly)
mustard and turnip greens
dandilion greens

all i can think of at the moment. Now not all are given daily, but maybe 3 or 4 one week, a different 3 or 4 another week, etc. I also was supplimenting with Miner-al but now trying the new uro dust by T Rex.

I like to give my uros (4 saharans) a varied diet. They eat:
kale
mustard greens
turnip greens
spring mix
peas (occasionally)
hibiscus (in the summer)
nasturtiums (in the summer)

I use the sticky tongue mineral supplement once a week and sometimes sprinkle on the t-rex uro diet.

The flowers are like candy for them--they love them!

I feed my uro dandilion greens and mustard greens everyday. Those 2 things are staples in the salad.

I add in 1-3 things which might include snap peas (steamed), endive, escarole, grated carrots, frozen veggies - peas, corn, carrots and string beans on occasions) - make sure they are thawed and I always pick out most of the corn, grated yellow squash, sweet potato, green or red bell peppers(sparingly), raddiccio, kale (sparingly, even though mine LOVES it), turnip greens and flowers (pansies, violas, or dandilion flowers).

I sprinkle on bee pollen every couple days (loves it)...

I use calcium w/D3 powder (Rep-Cal) that I sprinkle on daily. And every Friday I sprinkle on vitamin powder (Herptivite).

For a special treat (every once in a while) I give a few crickets or a raspberry...

I make sure that there is "colorful" foods in with the greens daily.

The staple for my uro is simple dandelion greens. I add to that about every other day with thawed frozen vegetables (peas and carrots usually), and small amounts of chopped up peppers. I find she prefers the yellow kind for some reason. For supplements, I use rep-cal vitamin powder and calcium w/d3 powder every other day, though I've heard varying opinions on how often to dust food. What do you guys do for supplements?

Well my daily salad varies but its basically like this:

Collard Greens
Kale Greens
Mustard Greens
Turnip Greens
Bok Choy
Red Chard
Endive

Occasionally:

snow peas
green beens
yellow squash
corn

A few times a week they get dandelion flowers and about 3 times a week I give them superworms....I know alot people may disagree with the superworms but my guys love them. Everyday I sprinkle the salad with birdseed and Uromastyx Dust from T-Rex. Lastly, I give both of mine solar drops once a week. Hope that helps.
