I have a little 2inch res and he will not use his back legs if he does not have to he my swim for 10 min and I only see them once. They look a little swolen and puffy but there is not a vet down here that looks at turtles. One of my friends is a vet but he has never delt with a turtle before so he could not give any advise. He seems to not want to eat as much and does not sit out under the heat/uv light as long any more. I have found a vet about 4 hours away that deals with turtles but I cant get up there for a while. I dont know what to do? Has anyone faced this problem before?

Right now i have:
13 dogs
2 cats
3 RES

This could be a very serious problem that a vet should look at. I can't imagine that your friend would not want to at least look at the animal and then discuss the animal's condition with a vet somewhere that has experience with turtles. Certainly there must be someone that he can contact to discuss the particulars and what course of treament (if any) might be appropriate.
