To save money and make a more natrualistic setup, can i use sticks from my yard or woods???? if so how would i "sterize" it??? thanks, Grant

You can use twigs and twigs, but make sure not to use dead ones (i.e. ones you find on the ground) because they usually already have bugs living in them (i.e. termites, etc.).

Just cut some branches from a tree and then wash them thoroughly with soap and water, and then rinse them completely.

Some people prefer to "bake" them in the oven to kill anything potentially living in the wood, but I don't think that's necessary. Of course, if you want to strip the bark off, baking them in the oven will help to dry it out, which makes the bark easier to peel off.

What I have always done for my iguanas , and now my cresteds is coat whatever branches I want to use with several layers clear polycoat . (after washing them ) I figure this will ensure anything that might be living in them wont be and also makes them easier to clean and not as likely to absorb odors .
Just a idea.
