here are a few:
generally good tempered, allow handling better than most snakes, captive conditions are well known by many people because they are common, stay fairly small (for pythons anyway), BEAUTIFUL, plus they have many other good characteristics that other snakes have like not requiring extensive amounts of time to care for (feed infrequently, and dook infrequently), and the list goes on and on!

If you tell us specifically what you want this info for (who you are trying to convice or whatever) I'm sure we can come up with some good reasons for you.

they are the "poodles" of the python world...they stay small & harmless.
males stay round 4 feet or so & I have heard of a female reaching 6 feet but 5 feet is more usual. Like any reptile it can bite if it feels threatened but most of the time if a ball bites you my money is riding on it being your fault. I had a ball snap at me twice & both times I was my fault. I have never actually been hit so I can't say if it's really painful, but if I had to get bit, that's the snake I want to tag me. They are actually called "royal" pythons..they recieved the name ball for their defense mode. They wrap their body around their head & curl into a ball to protect themselves, hence ball python. So if they get scared their initial defense is to curl up & hide, not to strike. what more can you ask for? here's some other reasons they are better than a lizard.
no need for special uv lights or vitamins & calcium. they get everything need from proper temps, humidity & that 4 dollar rat once a week. so less feeding, no viatmins & special lights etc. = less money you have to spend.
they can be kept in simple small encloures.
the only thing that they can stink about is they are known to be picky eaters at times (the one you're getttin is established so you shouldn't have to worry about that). in the winter months your snake may decide not to feed do to they breed in the winter & normally go off feeding. They can go months without food if they choose to, so just offer it..if they don't take it toss it out & try in another week or two..after awhile they will want to eat again & be back to normal. no big deal
they are rewarding & friendly snakes. I hope I helped ..if not
come one dad, please can she have one??lol
if your dad needs to ask any other questions feel free to email me personally or post on the forum I would be happy to help ease his mind,
Give in dad....it's inevitable..lol
