Need info of Tibetan Frog Eyed Gecko

snakemau Apr 13, 2004 08:03 PM

I have a pair of Teratoscincus roborowskii (Tibetan Frog Eyed Gecko) I 'd like to get some information of how to breed them and cage set up. I have them in a 10 gal terrarium with 3" of calci sand, two hidding caves, water dish, red light bulb (85F during day, 75 F at night), 45% humidity. I keep the lower portion of the sand wet (at lewast the only info that I got mentioned that) I know the male eat mealworms and crickets, but I haven't seen the female eat yet. They are both gaining weight.

Any advice on my setup? How to induce breeding and when?

Thank you so much.

When I set up the cage I place randomly arranged flat rocks, slate or shale will split easily, on top and across each other so as to make pockets and passages. Probably 3 to 4 inches deep, some places lower some higher. Then I fill it up with the CaCO3 covering up the rocks and filling most of the spaces (ie bury everything). Then add your cage furnishings. They REALLY like to dig, and this will give them the opportunity to roll their own designs. The cage changes shape dynamically as they dig out new spaces and fill others.

Don't see a need for wetting down the sand. I put in a wet hide, but they never use it. I don't mist either. Never seen any type of shedding problem.

Hi!
Thank you for advice. I think I'll change my cage set up, I'm sure they will love that!

Have you been able to breed them?
