My Uro doesn't use his "cool side"

wasabigirl Apr 13, 2004 09:47 PM

Hey guys,
I've noticed Scooter doesn't really use the "cool side" of his cage and I'm wondering if there's something I'm not doing. Here's the basic set-up.

Hot spot(top of cave) - 120( )
Cooler spot - mid-80's

He comes out and basks and walks around during the day, then goes under the cave at night and when he's sleeping during the day, where it is cooler because of the large openings. I'm thinking it might be because he's still so small and needs the extra warmth, even when "cooling off".

Any ideas?

He sounds like he's doing just fine to me. They don't always "use" the cool end, but it needs to be there for when it is needed. Even just coming down from the basking area is "cooling off" to an extent. Kinda like if you lay out in the direct sun to get a tan and you get hot. Then you move to a shadier spot just out of the direct sun, its much cooler even tho the temps in the air are the same. Make sense?

As long as he's eating, pooping, basking, and doing all those things, he sounds like he's pretty normal
