Well, it's all over for Powergeckos . . .

powergeckos Apr 13, 2004 10:03 PM

I sold my last big group tonight - 2.5 of my tiger project. The Stripes, tangs, tigers, albino's are all gone. All I have left is a few odds and ends, my 1st pair, some mels (that I will sell soon) - plus whatever is in the incubator.

The dang allergies to mealworms beat me down. I actually teared up tonight as I packed up the tigers - as i saw one of my best ones was gravid. Rats.

Fortunately - I have rhacs yet - just a few, but I'm sure that will grow.

I wish everybody the best of luck on their leo projects. I'll try to stop in from time to time, but you know how that goes.

Now, if you are looking for killer cresties, check back next year . . . hehe

take care,

-ignorance is not to be punished when one is trying to gain knowledge...what scares me is the vast number of people who, when given the information to gain knowledge, choose to ignore it.

I'm so sorry that this has happened. I couldn't imagine having to get rid of my geckos. Did you have the same problem with crickets?

Again i think this is aweful.. Please do check in from time to time and keep us up todate on how you are doing

Washing your hands often will stop most, if not all, of the reaction before it has a chance to start. I'm very allergic to the crickets but I find that I'm ok as long as I keep no more than 50-100 on hand and keep them very clean (it is their fecal matter that is the biggest trigger). Mealworms only get to me if I make the mistake of touching my face before I've washed my hands.

*sniff* I'm sorry Monte. You're a good guy, and I wanted to one day buy leos from you. But alas. Maybe some cresties one day?? Gotta support my gecko/mac buds. Haha. Sorry about your loss of your leos, but now you can jump into the crested world and make some beautiful babies that way!! Maybe I can still get one of your leos after your incubating babies are ready. Good luck!

this is a picture of a tiger.

Terry Brashear of Minneapolis now has the group. He's going to do well with them too. Very good guy - posts on that "other" herp site a lot.

Chad - that female that you had - I wonder if she is "hot". She will NOT let anyone breed with her. Before I moved them - I saw one of my other males just SCRAP with her over "breeding" rights. She wouldn't give up the goods. This is the 2nd year now. I told Terry to cool her and see if that gets her going.

She is a feisty one, that's for sure.

I'm so sorry that the Leopard Gecko community will be losing such a valuable member. You have been a wonderful resource for so many, and your contributions cannot even be counted! You have given us a warmer, and more light-hearted side of this hobby we all love. Thank you, Monte! Here's wishing you great success with your Cresties!

Hi

Just because your allergies are causing you to have to give up your Geckos, doesn't mean that you can't still come on here all the time, and to keep sharing your knowledge of them with use all.

The geckos maybe going, but not your knowledge. Sorry to hear you have to get rid of all your leo's though.

Take Care, TLB
