This is Cosmo's new cage. It is 4ft by 2ft by 2ft and made of 3/4 inch red oak plywood painted with water based paint and sealer. The cage is heated with an 11 x 23 inch heat mat, an 11 x 17 inch radiant heat panel, and a 100 watt ceramic heat emitter. The heating elements are controlled with rheostats and there are plenty of temp. variations at the different levels of the cage. I keep the ambient ceiling temp at the cool side of the cage in the mid to upper 80's. Cosmo is a 22 month old Hogg Island Boa and likes to climb. There is also a large cave in the rear left of the cage that he seems to enjoy. The base of the cage was probably the hardest part to build, but it serves a great function in raising the cage to a better viewing height and it's a great storage area for aspen bedding etc. Oh yeah, the branches are Flukers grapevine and the plants are silk.
