Leapard building a nesting mound?

Snakemother Apr 14, 2004 10:27 AM

My female gecko laid an egg for the first time last Thurday on top of the bed-a-beast in her tank. I took it out, and am incubating it. I watched for the next 4 days, no other egg. So I figured she'd lay again sometime next week, and would put a lay-box in over this weekend. I checked today, and she's scraped most of the bed-a-beast up into a big mound in the back corner of her tank, and is buried in it.
She had 3 hides to chose from, although one of them is occupied by her male. They've been together since before I got them, never any problem.
I never some advice on this - should I remove the male? Should I smooth out her mound and offer her a laybox instead? If I leave her mound, should I mist it down every day for a lay-area? If so, what humidity am I going for? Also, when should a dig into her mound checking for eggs, and how often? Any other advice?
Thanks, sorry about all the questions.

Remove the male, and let her decide. If there is another gecko in with any of my "soon to lay" females...they refuse to lay.
Remove him, and she'll pick a spot.

good luck!
