Response from ASPCA regarding Fear Factor and thier Live Bug Meat Grinder Stunt

LittleBill Apr 14, 2004 02:58 PM

This is a reply I got from the ASPCA regarding Fear Factors Meat Grinder stunt with live scorpions, millipedes, cockroaches and crickets.. Granted it was last month but the show has proven they will not slow down.. I've also posted this on www.petbugs.com
We had a feed of items that came back from various animal rights organizations. But this is the first time I got a number back for the producers of fear factor..

Dear Bill,

You wrote us several weeks ago about Fear Factor and their abusive
treatment of invertabrate creatures. First of all, no one here thinks
you
strange for "thinking this way." You're right, ALL creatures deserve
respect.

In no way to I want to pawn you off on someone else, but Humane Society
of
the U.S. (HSUS) has a division devoted to advocating for humane
treatment
of animals in the media, and this DOES include scorpions, etc. You can
contact them -- and I hope you do -- at:

The Humane Society of the United States Hollywood Office (works to
advance
humane treatment of depiction of animals in the media)
P.O. Box 8191
Universal City, California 91618-8191
Phone: (818) 501-2275
Fax: (818) 501-2226

Also, I urge you to call Fear Factor directly at 323-785-2242 to voice
your
very legitimate objections to the goings-on at the show. Believe me, we
hear from a lot of people who are outraged by what they see every week
on
that show.

Sincerely,

The ASPCA
