Veiled cham having troubles shedding...

ChicoB Apr 14, 2004 03:39 PM

Hi evereyone thanks for reading my post! Ok, i have a 9 month male veiled who is having problems shedding the old skin off his sides. His head, legs, tail etc, all shed but his sides right where his ribs are wont shed. I have put him in the shower a couple of times but that hasnt fixed the problem. His humidity is 50-80%. Is there something i can put on the dead shin to help it fall off? Any advice is appreciated. Also what do you think an average weight for a 9month old male veiled would be? Thanks

If you can handle him without a major battle you might just spray the old skin areas with warm water and gently rub with fingers it may work itself off. Safer than putting anything on him. Also, check to see if it comes off during his next shed.

If warm water and such doesnt work, you could also try using Jojoba oil, its around $10 I think at any health food store.

Also isnt there a reptile "Shed Ease"?) that they sell at petstores? I have never used it but it might be an option.

Hope this helps!
