a few wacky ones

Jeff Risher Apr 14, 2004 04:35 PM

First time for a hypo pastel dream x hypo pastel dream breeding. This litter consisted of 21 live and 25 slugs. Fortunately most of the babies are very unique and are showing both the hypo and the pastel dream characteristics which makes them both potential dominant hypo and potential dominant pastel dreams wrapped up in the same package. I have based my belief on the co-dominant manner of inheritability of the pastel dreams on real life observations right here in my basement. I had a lengthy conversation with the man himself JR and we really only differ on a matter of semantics. These animals can and do express themselves upon there offspring with only one of the parents being a pastel dream and the other animal can be totally unrelated in every way shape and form. Other breeders are now experiencing this and are quickly getting on board for the next level of breeding projects, "Putting the color back into our boas".

Thanks to Jeff Risher for posting the pics and please don't bother him with any inquiries into these animals, he only posted the pics.
Thanks again to Frank Visconti for taking the pics.

And finally thanks to Jeff Ronne for making me a believer in this project 8 years ago when I acquired my first pair of pastel dreams from him.

Doug, those things are on FIRE. UNREAL. You can defiantley see the good work Jeff Ronne did by selective breeding for that trait. I am thinking about breeding my Pastels from the Ronnie line to a Harlequin (a different looking pastel) from Rainshadow or Tim McGee. I think those babies would be ROCKIN. After seeing those, it is hard not to want some of those though. lol. good thing I have more then 1 Boaphile pastel. This is just the beginning. The pastel is DEFIANTLEY a PLUS to have in your bloodlines. He has shown that with his albinos, and now you with the Hypos. (Sorry if I left a few people out. I know others have also done some hypo work with these). Just saying there is a TON to do. The future is exciting. CONGRATS on a BEAUTIFUL healthy litter. Jeremy

My biggest question would be,which bloodline combination of "pastel dreams" were used to produce these? because,it seems from looking at the results, that's the line combination I'd be paying particular attention to,do they show aberrancies prior to the introduction of the hypo trait?...I'd LOVE to breed one of those with a Harlequin! I think the results would be stellar! thanks for the rush!!!
