bloodpython7 Apr 14, 2004 05:59 PM

i was wondering whats the size of most year old bloods? because i have 2 bloods that are almost a year old probably about 9 or 10 monthsa old and they seem small to me, i know bloods are already relativley small pythons in the first place but it just seems like mine are too small. there weight and everything seems good i feed them one mouse a week but they are nly about 18-20 inches! is that the right size for a year old blood or should they be bigger? thanks for your time

That doesnt sound too far off. Every individual animal has its own growth rate, and some dont grow as quickly as others. With everything else as well the amount you feed it will affect how quickly they grow. Maybee start feeding 2 mice instead of 1 every other week or a smaller sized f/t rat.

I would start feeding them a small rat once a week.I think it was around 6-7 months old when I switched over to rats.Within a month they will pack on some weight quick. It might look a little big but once they get it down and compressed in their belly it barely shows a bulge, but a happy fat snake.

I bought my borneo in Feb 2004, and at this moment is in eating 2-3 mice or a mouse and a small rat every 10 -14 days. He is approx. the same size as yours, almost 2' and probably the same age. It has doubled in size in the last 3 months though( almost the size of my wrist in the middle) . So I would agree with the other post and say that at least 2 mice per 10 day period, or until it deficates....
