I just thought I'd share something that disturbed me a few minutes ago...
I was "googling" checking out some other leopard gecko forums.. and the first one i went to, there was a message from someone saying their leo hasnt been eating the last couple months, that much, is half the weight they were when they got them etc.. the leo was housed with others, but the person had put them in a different cage once they noticed things were wrong..
Now this isnt what disturbed me, it was the reply by someone, who had, perhaps coincidentally, the same name as the person who owned the leo forum... they said "you need to take the initiative and kill the leo now. You have to kill it or it will infect the other leos and they will all get sick."
This is all he said... no mention of going to a vet, obviously didnt notice that the person had quarantined it.. just said for the person to kill it.. themselves... I was appalled... I mean, is this a common thought??? it just makes me mad that people still think of small animals as not worthy of time and money, and that killing it would be the best solution.. I posted that they should take it to the vet, as it may be easily cured by some meds.... like.. isnt this the first thing that would pop into your minds???
Anyways, i just had to rant.. if this is the kind of advice people think is acceptable, its no wonder small reptiles and animals are seen as something thats not a "real" pet.
