what does shedding look like??

superbajf Apr 14, 2004 10:07 PM

we're wondering about the health of our water dragon.

it's pretty slow moving, kind of hides from us, not very active at all.. will ONLY eat mealworms and occasionally greens.

it's mouth always looks slightly open and is pink around the opening almost all the way around.

i think it's shedding? but i'm not sure. it doesn't look like the shedding from our bearded dragon or iguana but instead looks almost flaky or like peeling skin but it hasn't come off yet. anyone know what this could be?

Hmm that doesnt sound very good... It could be many things. You're dragon may eat less, and be more stressed (especially when its younger, and just getting use to his enviroment). But when dragon sheds, he hardly acts any different. And you'll notice too, his skin will be whiter and eventually start pealing.

There could very likely be something wrong with it though, so maybe a vet would be a good idea.
