He is very active roaring all day and night especially when he can see me. I believe the female is still to young to breed but hopefully next year.

Hi,Soe,
nice pics, thanks for posting.
I dont believe your female is too young. How long is she just now?
She´s one of the first import to Denmark, right?

She is only one meter and about 4 kilo. They are both from the second import in 98

Hi Soe,
i was asking because John Behler wrote about A.sinensis reaching maturity at an age of only 4 years. But 1 m sounds like a normal size in this age : My female is only 55 cm right now, from the 1997 import and badly kept before. She grew more than 1o cm here in only 5 months and is now a great feeder.
Good luck, Soe, im crossing my fingers for you.
Best wishes

Hi again Ralf
I have asked everyone possible to find out when they mature, and the answer has everything from 106 cm to 130 and at least 7 years.
Rene`s animals copulated last year, and they are one year older and at least 125 cm. Nothing came out of these copulations though.
I have serious thought about how to introduce them to each other. I have tried for a few hours 3 times, and in the daytime they don`t mind compagny, but as soon as night falls they start fighting. Henrik lost one adult female this way (and I 2 semiadults)so I am sitting there with night vision, nerve tablets and some wine, every time I open the gate.
One good thing is hes steady roaring. I do hope that his efforts will start some hormons in the female. As far as I know our other males are very silent compared to mine.
Best wishes

Yep, Soe, we talked about that. Are your animals able to see and smell each other when they are seperated?
Hope to see some experienced sinensis breeders in Darwin and will try to find out what the best way is. We´ll keep in touch.
Take care
Ralf
