It is probably unnecessary, but not harmful. The major benefit is probably to you if it is defecating when you do it. Craig Kade

Well it depends on what kind of bath you are giving your boa. I imagine that completely submerging your snake would be quite stressful for it. Simply rinsing it under the faucet would be alright though. The main thing to pay attention to is the temperature of the water. If it feels warm to you, then it will feel hot to your boa. Keep the temperature very neutral... not hot and not cold.

I usually rinse my boa under a running faucet 2 or 3 days after she eats, because occasionally when she constricts she will get some of the animals blood on her skin which I like to clean off for apperance purposes. I feed f/t of course, but sometimes they still bleed.

I wash him in the sink (he's only 3and 1/2 feet.) He seems to enjoy it. Temperature of the water should feel neither warm or cool to you - then it's just right. He's in a 3' Boaphile cage right now but he apparently doesn't mind rollin' around in his own fecal. I have a 5' BCI that won't even "go" in her 4x2x2 Neodesha- she waits 'till I take her outside. Since February '03.
