Problems with tail shed

rjharper Apr 15, 2004 10:29 AM

The last 6 inches of Fuego's tail are darker than the rest of him. I took a good look and it look like his tail has not shed. Its not black, its not dying, and it seems fine. However, I would like to assist the shed before it gets to that stage. Any hints / tips to induce shedding of the tail? ITs been like that for some time now, the rest of him has shed several times. I recall some advice with mineral or olive oils, but I can't remeber the details.

Thanks as always in advance

Yeah, you can use those things, and/or vaseline . But, if it's on sand it will stick to it. Soaking may help too. Mineral and olive oil are also used for impaction.

Aloe is good but has to be applyed several times a day same with Tea Tree oil from Down Under. (OK to many Outback steak house commercials.)(nontoxic) Any good facial moistureizer will help also, Clinique, Oil of Olay, or L'Occitane shea butter, but make sure that you only use a little at a time and reapply often. Also that they do not eat any of the later ones I do not know how good it is internally, but Aloe and tea tree oil will not hurt them.
