What would be the harm in not puting a hide box in the rack tub with the BP?
Not sure I understand the question, but just because they're in a rack doesn't mean you can't give them hides as well. Same rules apply - no cedar, etc.

sorry, what I mean is,.. I have a hide in my tub, in a lot of pictures I see in the recent posts, they don't have hides in their tubs, so.. I thought maybe it is unnecessary space used and I could take mine out.. but, if it helps the stress level then I wont.
I'm not sure what you're using for hides, but I have warm-side & cool-side hides in my rack. I use upside-down clay flowerpot bases (not the pot, but the bottom part that catches the water) with a chip knocked out so the snakes can get inside. They take up some floor space, but the snakes can stretch out over them or whatever if they want to. So I'm not sure how it would be a 'space' issue?
When using a rack system to house your ball pythons hides can be optional. Usually the space in the container is tight enough as it is and will have a dark corner to hide in. I use hides though and so do numerous breeders and I have found that by using them their feeding and breeding response is much greater than without using the hides. Just my .02
thanks all
I use hides (boxes or whatever) in my racks for baby and young snakes.
After about 1.5-2 years they get too big to use appropriate sized hides in my rack setup.
However, I use extra newspaper as hides and they like it.
Actually, they hide under the paper more than they use their hide boxes when they are provided.
