Vitamins - How often?

Becki71 Apr 15, 2004 11:16 AM

I have been sprinkling Reptivite and Reptocal on my Herman torts food every morning. Someone told me I should be only be doing this once a week. Does anyone have any advice? I would hate to be doing this wrong!

I give my tort the rep-cal every day on his food. I do have cuttlebone avaiable in his enclosure and he just recently figured out what it was and started nibbling on it... I want to stop using the rep-cal eventually and have him strictly use the cuttlebone for calcium. I also have herptivite that I sprinkle on his food every Friday. I got that from Kim at the turtlecafe. She also sells the cuttlebone. I found my cuttlebone at a local pet shop but she sells all sizes.

Anyone think that my leopard tort is in need of the mineral block that kim sells? I am not sure what this is used for... Any thoughts?

It shouldn't be a problem giving the calcium every day but you might want to cut back on the vitamins. Some vitamins can be toxic if given to often, especially vitamin A. I'd cut back to once a week on the vitamins. The only supplement I give my Redfoots is Osteoform.
