Hello!I became disabled about 5 years ago,Due to a car accident!I own my own trailor, but due to income had to put it in a trailor park!About 9 months ago,I got tired of getting nowhere an decided to do somthing about it!My wife an I dicussed it an we decided to try an start a boa business! We figured it would be somthing new to our area!An yes it could fall on its face, but it just might work also!We got about 2 more years before we can even start breeding,But if it works we can make the money to get a piece of land an really start our business an if not then we just have alot of beautiful pets!Sorry about that now heres the question! On the lease for the lot that I rent,It says nothing about exotic animals period!Just about cats an dogs!I have tried to keep a low down on it all,But somebody I trusted has run their mouth an I was questioned about snakes an rats an rabbits this morning!Yes I lied an said I didn't know what she was talking about,Because she has no right to come in my home, right? An if the tuth came out can their be anything done about it since it isn't on the lease?Or do I need to sell some of my collection an get out of here an start over?Any help would be greatly appriciated! Thanks Charles!Oh heres one of my het males I tried to post the other day! Thanks again!

Since you are a renter, unfortuneately you can be subject to whatever your land lord sees fit (wether it is on the lease or not).

She can't legally come into your home, but she can terminate your lease at any time for any reason.

If I were you I would try going to her, being upfront and polite, and tell her that you have some exotic animals that you would like to keep on the property. She will probably be much more receptive to you and your snakes if you just be upfront about it.

If I were you i would go on google and look up the landlord tenet act in your area Im not sure about where you live but here in sunny sandiego ca. you are allowed to keep any cage dwelling animal 25lbs. and under that you wish regardless of what the landlord says or of what is in the lease. Also i just wanted to ad that if this "friend" of yours ran his or her mouth there not a real friend but im sure you know this by know

Ok here are my thoughts on the subject, seeing I don’t know you I can’t know you entire situation but I do know what it takes to raise boas and I also know a bit about the laws (at least in the state of Florida).
First off I would start by saying if you are going to raise Boas or any other Exotic animal, you need to be above board on everything you do. Each time a herper gets caught trying to skirt the laws in their area it hurts all herpers. It ends up making the papers, CNN, and makes us all look bad, Whether it is one of your animals that escaped, or a protected animal that you were caught with, it will come back to haunt us all if things are not above board on it. As far as the land lord thing goes, that is a civil issue that will be determined by the lease and the bi-laws of the community. Most established communities have bi-laws forbidding animal breeding with in the confines of the community. Some may have specific bi-laws dealing strictly with exotic animals and some leases may state no pets.
If your lease or Bi-laws do not mention the issue, then you have to make sure you City, County and State Laws do not conflict with your plans as well. I would not try and lie to the landlord about the issue, but I would try and do some research to make sure that it is not illegal to keep the animals. If you own the trailer and you are just renting the lot then I fail to see the concern with the landlord, other then the impression it gives to the neighbors.
The other thing that I am confused about is the disabled part of it. I have been keeping Boas and reptiles for about 23 years now. I must say I physically work harder caring for my snakes then I do at my “real job”. The cleaning and lifting of big constrictors is not an easy task. I don’t know the extent of your disability, but if it makes it impossible for you to work in any other capacity, then I can’t see how you would be able to care for the Boas. Maybe you should look into breeding a more manageable snake like Ball Pythons or Colubrids. The Boas and big Pythons can take a lot of physical work to care for, just a thought that you may not have come across yet with your young boas.
Good Luck
Hoppy

By the way, that Boa that you posted is beautiful and looks to be Peruvian?
